Caseyを読んでいるゼミでA.N. Whiteheadを少し触る。「科学と近代世界」は面白そう。

We have to admit that the body is the organism whose states regulate our cognisance of the world. The unity of the perceptual field therefore must be a unity of bodily experience.

If green be the sense-object [I perceive], green is not simply at A where it is being perceived [i.e., "here"], nor is it simply at B where it is perceived as located [i.e., "there"], but it is present at A with the mode of location in B.

後者なんてMerleau-Pontyばりの表現（時代順逆だけど）。訳もあるし*1いつか読もうかな。

またKantも少し。前批判期のKantに身体性による方向付けの概念を探る。Caseyは1768年の論文*2を持ち出す。そこでは確かに身体から水平、上下、左右、前後の概念が導かれている。CaseyによればLeibnizの位相数学にはこの方向性の概念が欠けている*3。Kantではこの方向性が重視されたのだが、そこには後の物体との関連を排した絶対空間の非概念性、直観としての空間との必然的なつながりは無い。Kantが出した非合同の事例はその根拠をこの人間の身体に求めなければならないとのこと。
